“Man plays only when he is in the fullest sense of the word a human being, and he is fully a human being only when he plays.”
Aesthetic Education of Man - Friedrich Schiller
The Living Movement Training has 2 courses.
1. Foundation Course – 2 Years (Elementary Training)
2. Advanced Course - 2 Years
The Foundation Course – 2 Years:
Foundation 1 (3 terms)
Foundation 2 (3 terms)
At the end of the 2-year Foundation Course the student is awarded a certificate of Practitioner of Living Movement which entitles the student to put all learned skills into practise (but not with the title of Living Movement Artist)
The Foundation Course programme includes: fundamental movement skills, functional understanding of anatomy, body awareness, basic Eurythmy skills, spatial awareness, improvisation and devising techniques.
After the first two years the student will have encountered a wide range of body exercises, Eurythmy skills, performance skills, and will have gained experience through several artistic projects and a community based project.
Written assignments and talks are part of each study year.
2. Advanced Course: 2 Years
Advanced 1 (3 terms)
Advanced 2 (3 terms)
At the end of the Advanced Course the student will be awarded a diploma as a Living Movement Artist.
In terms of future planning this would be equal to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree.
As a Living Movement Artist the student is qualified to work as a performer, to do workshops, give classes and to create and lead performance projects.
Advanced 1
The personal repertoire and individual range of expression will be broadened by working with a Choreographer/Director as well as creating and leading an own performance project. Written assignments and talks will focus on research and the student will work more independently.
This year will end with a tour featuring one or more of the artistic productions worked on during the study year.
Advanced 2
To graduate the student is required to formulate his/her own research question and complete a thesis with a movement presentation on the chosen theme. Artistic projects organized by the students should be self-devised as well as working with a director/ choreographer and include one artistic project with a social focus. These three terms can also be completed as a guest student in another approved Academy abroad. The main focus of this study year is the development of the individuality of the artist to assist him/her in defining his/her future work perspective.
The study is intended for young people between 18 and 35 years of age, who have already had some performance experience. Teaching will be in blocks providing a thorough schooling in all aspects of eurythmy (including classical and contemporary).
The emphasis will be on the integration of a broad palette of artistic skills for eurythmy-theatre productions.
