ZeroZero Theatre – ‘Samahd and the suitcase'
Developed with director Ernst Reepmaker in the studios of the Academy, March 2005
Samahd set out with his heart full of courage and his suitcase full of surprises, on a journey of discovery. He does not know where he is going, only that he can't stay where he was. He is a refugee, but life is full of the unexpected.
This is a magical piece of visual theatre, with puppetry, theatre and live music. Something to delight the imagination and linger in the memory of children and adults alike. Suitable for children aged 7 and up. It has four performers, Philip Beaven, Kaya Kitani, Anna Tsiklauri , Christof Schmid and is directed by Ernst Reepmaker, Academy of Living Movement.
Samahd and the Suitcase has also been shown at three refugee centres in Kent, two primary schools in Sussex, a school for disadvantaged children, Forest Row Village Hall and the Brighton Fringe Festival, and would like to acknowledge the support of Wealden District Council. The production has recently toured three weeks in Ireland.
